  • Known for its historical attractions and vacation spots, Laguna is one of the beautiful provinces in the Philippines that foreigners and locals love visiting. In Los Baños, a province about two to three hours away from Manila, there are items and delicacies you should not miss out on. If you’re dropping by, here is a handy guide for souvenirs you can score before leaving the town.

    Lety’s Buko Pie (Php 200)

    Considered a specialty in Los Baños, buko pie is a baked young-coconut custard pie that’s a favorite among the locals. One of the town’s famous brands is Lety’s Buko Pie. The texture of the coconut has a perfect mix of soft and hard, and the crust has a unique salty taste that blends well with the filling.

    Lety’s Buko Pie also offers other delicacies such as the Frozen Vacuum-Packed Buko Pie, Pineapple Pie, Buko-Pineapple Pie, Cassava Cake, and Espasol (rice cake cooked in coconut milk).

    Goat’s Milk (Php 100 – Php 150)

    In the same town, tourists can locate some rich tasting goat milk, which is made fresh and tasty. Try the Chocolate flavor, which is also recommended for children. They also have other flavors that you might want to try!

    Kesong Puti (Php 200)

    Another delicacy tourists should buy is the Kesong Puti or native white cheese. It is fresh, white and soft cheese made from the milk of cattle from Laguna. According to the locals, it is perfect with pasta, pizza, and salad.

    Some of the shops that offer native white cheese around Laguna are Gil’s Kesong Puti, Flor De Lima’s Special Kesong Puti, Mr. Moo’s Fresh Milk and Kesong Puti.

    Liliw Sandals (Php 100)

    Locally produced footwear embellished with decorative features can also be found in this town. Known for its good quality and affordable prices, Liliw Sandals are artisanal footwear which has a hardwearing sole. Aside from the sandals, they also have espadrilles that come in various designs and colors, both for men and women. If you want to buy one, there are a bunch of shops around Laguna.

    Salted Duck Egg (Php 100)

    Salted duck egg is likewise a popular delicacy in the Philippines. Luckily, Los Baños offers the best-salted duck egg, which you can widely use for various dishes. It can be for viand, or you may also use this as an ingredient to your own dish such as pasta!
