  • Living in the digital age means the convenience of learning through advanced technology. While iPads and e-books are becoming a trend for everyone, physical books are still the best companion you’ll ever need. Thankfully, the Manila International Book Fair brings the biggest and longest-running book fair once more to spread the love for reading.

Today marks the opening of the 39th MIBF and Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat graced the event sharing how glad she was that the fair is also promoting works of local writers. “I am glad that we have so many award-winning authors whose works help promote our country and its great men and women.”

The first thing that comes into mind when we talk about purchasing books are these two bookstores that serve as our own haven – National Bookstore and Fully Booked. If you’re eyeing for fiction or Young Adult books like the famous To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and Crazy Rich Asians, you might want to roam around here and find these books in awesome discounts.

Kids, teens, and tweens would also love roaming around here as they can find great deals for journals, art materials, child-friendly books and if you’re lucky enough, you might catch a panel discussion or book signings around.

Aside from the usual bookstore haven, you might want to roam around and find other genres because books aren’t just limited to fiction, children, self-help, young adults and Sci-Fis. Teachers and students will surely score great deals of educational books for every course here at the MIBF.

If you’re eyeing for self-help or religious books, head on to the religious aisle. They’ve got bibles, journals, even religious 2019 planners around. You can also purchase religious figures, bracelets, and souvenirs here.

Lots of fun interactive booths also await school moderators, parents, and teachers at Aisle B where you can find the big book publishing houses such as Phoenix,  Rex, and many more. These publishing houses partners with schools for an innovative way of teaching.

With the long lines, jam-packed and spacious venue, how do you get the most out of your visit here? Well, we’ve got a few tips for you:

    Make a list!

Surely you don’t have a lot of time and energy to roam around and go back and forth in this spacious venue just to find the book you cannot remember. So before you even go, make sure to prepare a list of everything you need to buy.

    Be there early.

If you’re not new to the MIBF, you’ll surely know how long the lines are. So be early, bring an umbrella, and be patient while lining up. Don’t worry, long lines are always worth the wait especially if you’ve got in your hands the book you’ve always wanted.

    Bring an eco-bag

If you’re planning to buy a lot of books, make sure to bring an eco-bag so you won’t have the hassle to carry books with you. This will also help you in roaming around easily.

    Enjoy!

MIBF is all about our love for books. So the best advice we could give to you is to enjoy the fair, attend talks, book signings, panel discussions, visit pop and comic booths, join the fandom fest, support local writers and a whole lot more.

The love of reading and learning never stops in the four corners of the classroom or home. Books are like extensions of life lessons and adventures. So make sure to drop by at the 39th Manila International Book Fair 2018 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City this September 12, 2018, to September 16, 2018, and have fun in the biggest book fair ever!
