  • There is no stopping the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) that aims to prioritize the safety of public jeepneys, ease traffic, and cut down on pollution. On June 18, Isuzu Philippines Corp., led by President Hajime Koso, turned over the first 15 units of their modern jeepneys.

The formal ceremony signified the beginning of the PUVMP with the Senate Employees Transport Service Cooperative (SETSCO) as the pilot operator. They envision that the program will replace some 250,000 jeepneys nationwide with new, safe, and environment-friendly as well as secured, convenient, and comfortable public utility vehicles.

These new PUVs are assembled using the Isuzu QKR77 using a Euro IV-compliant 4JH1-TC Diesel Engine. These PUVs were designed and manufactured by Almazora Motors Corp., the largest bus and truck manufacturer in the country.

Completing the modernized look the Isuzu are the LED TV monitors, LED signages, fire extinguishers, CCTV, dash-cam and back-up cameras, and the automatic fare collection. All is set and ready to ensure public safety, entertainment, and convenience.
