  • Another long weekend awaits students and employees as the Palace declares June 15, 2018 (Friday), a holiday in observance of Eid’l Fitr and June 12, 2018 (Tuesday), the country’s 120th Independence Day.


    Special Assistant to the President, Mr. Bong Go said that President Duterte signed the Proclamation No. 514 last Wednesday, June 6, 2018, declaring June 15, 2018, Friday, a holiday of religious celebration to mark the end of Ramadan.

    Eid’l Fitr is a religious festival observed by Muslims around the world to celebrate the end of Ramadan. Signed in 2002, the Republic Act No. 9177 was signed to celebrate the end of Ramadan with the date of observance announced yearly, based on the Muslim calendar.

    According to RA 9177, “the approximate date of these Islamic holidays may be determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra) or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient.”
