  • No Bora? Try these other destinations!
  • Just because Boracay is closed for six months does not mean you have nowhere else to go for your vacation. Open your door to other travel destinations in the Philippines. Let us give you some fun and interesting destinations that could just as fun as Bora (or even more fun).

Let us start with the one that Marvel fans must have all seen in the cinema recently:

    The Banaue Rice Terraces

Dubbed as the eighth wonder of the world, Banaue Rice Terraces continues to amaze people with its extraordinary artistry by the Ifugao tribe.

Although known for its appealing beauty, the Banaue Rice Terraces were made to hold flood for rice cultivation. Locals plant rice and vegetable on the terraces for farming while much younger Ifugaos are leaning towards the tourism industry of their place.

To go and see the breathtaking view of the Banaue Rice Terraces, you can travel by bus with daily trips from Manila to Banaue. It usually takes a 9-hour trip to get there, but the long hours will be worth it. When it comes to accommodation, there are several lodgings and hotels around the area.

Of course, you planned on going to Boracay for the white beach so why not try:

    Anda Beach, Bohol

Anda’s Beach is a long stretch of fine, white sand, and calm blue water. It can be comparable to those famous beaches in the Philippines, but this one is better in terms of being at peace as it is not crowded with establishments.

To get to Anda Beach from Tagbilaran City, you need to ride a bus at the Dao Integrated Bus Terminal near the Island City Mall (ICM). A single ticket costs around Php 80 to Php 100. Make sure to know the schedule of each trip. Get off at the town plaza where the Tourist Information Center is located. Here, you can ask for assistance and recommendations on the best beach resorts in town.

Or if you were looking forward to cliff diving, there is also Cebu

    Malapascua Island in Cebu

This charming island in Cebu called Malapascua is known for its underwater attractions, most especially for being a diving destination.

To get to Malapascua from Cebu City, you can take a van or a Ceres bus bound for Maya port. Then at the port, you need to take a boat to get you to Malapascua Island. Around the place, you’ll see hotels or lounges for your accommodation needs.

Finally, watch the sunset on a secluded beach like you could in Boracay:

    Aninuan Beach, Puerto Galera

Anunian is a getaway to achieve total relaxation without really being away from Puerto Galera’s party central that is White Beach. Combined with hospitality and warmth from the locals of Mindoro this resort that is literally named Sunset at Aninuan gives you the peace and quiet you have been looking for.

From Manila, ride a bus bound for Batangas Pier, board a ferry going to Puerto Galera and when you reach Balatero Port, ride a tricycle or jeepney to Aninuan. Easy as one-two-three, sunset, beach at no extra drama.
