Vietnamese cuisines are influenced by various countries such as China, Laos Cambodia, Thailand, and France. Pho, a traditional soup of the country consisting of chicken or beef with flat rice noodles and herbs, is said to be inspired by Chinese noodle soup. France, on the other hand, was the inspiration behind the famous bánh mì, which Vietnamese brought to the Philippines as refugees of the Vietnam War. Kuy teav, also a rice noodle soup with various toppings, was known as a partner for bánh mì, a bread filled with various ingredients or most commonly perceived as a sandwich.
