CALL FOR ENTRIES: MillenniaIs to Revitalise Intramuros
The Intramuros Administration and the Escuela Taller de Filipinas Foundation are set to jointly conduct conservation and redevelopment activities for the Intramuros walls, fortifications, and their immediate vicinity.
This joint effort commences with MillenniaIs to Revitalise Intramuros!, a competition of ideas on the expansion area currently being occupied by Escuela Taller, adjacent to the Revellin de Recoletos. This competition is open to Filipino millennial designers and students.
The objective of the competition is to generate ideas to accommodate the growth of the said training center. Ideas should take into consideration that the expansion area to be developed is within the vicinity of an important heritage site and should adhere to heritage conservation standards and best practices.
Escuela Taller is a vocational training center that trains out of school youth in construction trades specializing in the conservation of tangible heritage. The said expansion area of its existing campus facility is located in the immediate vicinity of Intramuros, which is one of Manila’s most important cultural heritage assets whose protection and promotion is being managed by the Intramuros Administration.
The National Museum of the Philippines shall also be conducting archaeological surveys and excavations on the said site, which by law is declared as a Conservation and Archaeological Site. For more details about the competition, please check our website at escuelataller.org.ph.
