Filipino Duo Performs Live on Stage with Joe Jonas’ DNCE
For some time, many people have been discovered and made known through the presence of social media, particularly in YouTube.
YouTube channel Best Cover Ever featured a number of musically inclined individuals who were discovered from around the world, competing against each other to stand a chance to own the spotlight with their idols.
This show aired exclusively on YouTube last November 20, 2017, and was hosted by Ludacris, under the production of Ryan Seacrest and Endemol Shine North America. It has featured some of music’s biggest stars, including the likes of Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, Jason Derulo, Charlie Puth, Keith Urban, Backstreet Boys, Flo Rida, and DNCE.
It was during Joe Jonas and his group DNCE’s turn in searching for the next breakout stars when an unexpected duo from the Philippines was short-listed by the said production. Lesha Litonjua and Leo Malili, known collectively as Lesha x ELM, are college friends who decided to upload videos of themselves on YouTube doing covers of today’s best hits.
Aside from doing covers, Lesha x ELM have performed in some of the biggest parties in Metro Manila and became front acts during concerts by international artists. Despite their instant fame after gaining a huge number of followers on social media, both decided to take their music to the next level and joined Best Cover Ever.
They have submitted their own rendition of DNCE’s “Toothbrush” and later received the good news that they were short-listed among thousands who also submitted online.
In an interview with Philstar.com, the duo has stated how they fought against other artists who dreamt of performing on stage with DNCE and be able to showcase their talents globally and at the end, the duo defied the odds and was able to perform live on stage with their idols, Joe Jonas and his band, DNCE.
