  • With a lot of events that happened in the country for the past weeks, Philippines once again made an impact by making its name known throughout the world through various news presented. We’ve listed down some news that will mirror the true Filipino experience.

    Cinema One Originals Festival 2017

    With a theme of Walang Takot or No Fear, the Cineme One Originals Festival 2017 is a film festival that will highlight a number of films in competition, restored classics, short films, films showed worldwide, and C1 originals. It will be running from November 13-28 and will be screened at TriNoma, Glorietta 4, Gateway, Cinema ’76, Cinematheque Centre Manila, Film Institute, Powerplant Cinema, and in Black Maria.

    Filipina Crowned Miss Top of the World Plus Size 2017

     

    Filipina women are making their name known throughout the world by winning various beauty contests or pageants. Last November 13, 2017, another Filipina beauty bagged the grandest title in a beauty pageant held in Singapore.  Jodel Mesina, a 35-five-year-old Cebuana, bested 15 candidates from other countries in the international pageant and was crowned “Miss Top of the World Plus Size 2017.”

     

    Philippines Moves Up to the 4th Place in ASEAN FDI 

    During the ASEAN Summit held last November 10-14, 2017 in Manila, a lot of things were discussed. Philippines, being the host country, housed a number of world leaders for the said dates, and with a lot of things that were talked over, one important news to consider is how the country managed to move up to the upper half of the 10-countries in attracting Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) after settling at the bottom half for the past years. Based on the preliminary data from the ASEAN, the Philippines emerged as the 4th largest recipient of FDIs in 2016 with a total of $7.93 billion accumulated investments.

    Philippines aiming to identify 300 new Eco Zones in January 2018

    In an effort to strengthen the economic sector in the country, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority’s own director,  Director General Charito Plaza announced last November 12, 2017 during the 31st ASEAN Summit that the PEZA will be launching a map of Philippine economic zones early in January 2018 to identify zone areas in every province and city nationwide that would help in boosting the economy of the country. Aside from that, this map would also include mega economic zones, spanning from 1,000 to 4,000 hectares both in Bulacan and in Pangasinan.
