  • DOTr moves headquarters to Clark
  • The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is set on moving from Mandaluyong City to Clark, Pampanga starting with a flag raising ceremony on July 28, Friday.

According to a report published by The Inquirer, what used to be the Cyber City hub is now being renovated in order to accommodate the government employees who will be transferring soon. P59.088 million has been allotted for the renovation of the 2,470 square meter area. The relocated site will save the department P9 million in rentals annually according to lawyer Leah Quiambao, assistant secretary for legal affairs and communications.

During a “Dutertenomics” event last July 18 DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade stated that the move will happen whether or not the construction will be complete, ‘’Finished or not finished, we’re moving to Clark.” The relocation was originally planned to start December of this year but was moved this July because of the uproar of protestors in Manila.

President of Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) Vince Dizon says that other government offices are expected to follow in transferring to Clark New City where construction is still on-going.

DOTr is the first ever national agency to establish headquarters in Clark. According to ABS-CBN News, following the decision of the Duterte administration’s plan to move key government offices outside of Metro Manila, they believe thattransferring to the former military base will help in decongesting the Capital.
