Movies to watch this July in PH
There are a lot of things to be excited for in July, one of those are the upcoming movies. We’ve waited for them for some months after the trailer has been released. Now, get ready to finally watch them on the big screen, as our favorite characters (as some are movie adaptations) come to life.
Spider-man: Homecoming
Marvel fans unite as Spider-man Homecoming will grace the screens on the first week of July.
There’s a new Spider-man in the form of British actor Tom Holland. The story follows a young Peter Parker’s life, his struggles in puberty, going through the awkwardness phase while saving the world. After his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, he has to prove himself as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man while fighting off, Vulture portrayed by actor, Michael Keaton.
The cast also includes Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, who will be his mentor.
War of the Planet of the Apes
For the past years, we’ve seen their story on the big screen, following Ceasar and his apes. This July, the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise returns with their third installment of the film. After losing, the main character, Caesar goes darker and starts his own quest to avenge his kind. Catch Caesar and the Colonel epic battle, as the human race tries to defeat the apes as well.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
Based on the French science fiction comics series Valérian and Laureline, written by Pierre Christin and illustrated by Jean-Claude Mézières, Valerian follows the characters of Valerian portrayed by American actor, Dane Dehaan and English model turned actress Cara Delivigne. Race them into the future and follow them through their missions.
Atomic Blonde
South African-American actress and film producer Charlize Theron is Atomic Blonde. Along with James McAvoy, Charlize Theron will portray Agent Lorraine Broughton, an undercover MI6 agent who is sent to Berlin during the Cold War to investigate the murder of a fellow agent and recover a missing list of double agents. Atomic Blonde is an action-packed family for those who need some adrenaline rush while watching a film.
Girls Trip
Girls Trip is a comedy film that revolves around four friends, actresses Regina Hall, Tiffany Haddish, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Queen Latifah. The four take a trip of their lifetime after not spending each other for five years. A travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival with a lot of dancing, laughter and partying. In the trip, they also rekindle their sisterhood and rediscover each other.
Cars 3
The legendary Lighting McQueen is back this time with a new rival and a new dilemma. His years in the racing in the industry is over as a new generation of fast cars are taking over the sport. Loved by kids and adults, Cars 3 teaches us that there are always second chances if you believe in yourself. Watch Lightning McQueen as he tries to prove everyone that he still got it on the Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage.
Hickok
Discover the story of Legendary gunslinger “Wild Bill” Hickok as he fights off a gang of outlaws and the powerful saloon owner who put a bounty on his head. Australian actor, Luke Hemsworth takes the big screen to portray this iconic role. Go back in the American Old West mainly in the small town of Abilene, Kansas.
Magellan
No, this movie isn’t about Ferdinand Magellan (just to clear that out). Magellan is a movie about a lone astronaut who embarks on a multi-year mission to investigate a trio of mysterious signals originating from within the solar system. After NASA picks up mysterious signals from the Solar System, astronaut Roger Nelson, played by American actor, Brandon Ray Olive is asked to investigate.
Wish Upon
Ready to have some goosebumps? Wish Upon is an American supernatural horror film that stars former child actress Joey King and American actor, Ryan Phillippe. Through a mysterious music box, Clare Shannon (Joey King) is deceived, as her wishes came true terror starts to unwrap. She soon realizes that every wish has a price.
The Ghost Story
American actress and philanthropist, Rooney Mara teams up with Oscar winner, Casey Affleck in a Fantasy, Drama film, The Ghost Story. The film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22, 2017. A a white-sheeted ghost returns to their suburban home and follows them. The ghost also goes through a cosmic journey through memory and history with the couple.
