    Highly regarded as one the best schools in the country, University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman, Quezon City, inches 7 notches higher from its previous place in #374 at the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings released this June 8.

    UP is still the top university from the Philippines in the list by QS which ranks the world’s leading higher education institutions. As described by QS, “UP Diliman is the flagship university of the UP System. It is the administrative seat of the system as well as an autonomous university in its own right. UP Diliman is not only the home of diverse colleges. Offering 94 graduate and undergraduate courses, it also runs several centers of research, many of which have been declared by the Commission on Higher Education as National Centers of Excellence.”

    UP also ranked #101-150 at the QS World University Rankings by Subject in the field of Archaeology, #201+ in Graduate Employability Ranking, and #=70 in Asian University Rankings.

    Aside from UP, three other Philippine universities place in the QS World Rankings, with Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) placing in the 551-600 spot, De La Salle University (DLSU) in the 701-750 spot, and the University of Santo Tomas at the 801 to 1000th spot.

    QS uses six indicators in the methodology namely academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty, and international students.
