  • US Embassy announces 2 options for US citizens’ passport renewal
  • Effective starting April 1, 2017, US citizens in the Philippines who would be renewing their adult passports now have two options they can choose from in submitting their application form (DS-82) and passports to the Embassy. This was announced via the website of the Embassy of the United States in the Philippines.

    Option 1:

US Citizens may book an appointment on the US Embassy website. He/she, or a representative, will need to appear on the appointment date with the following: completed DS-82 application form, recent 2×2 photo on white background, and a $110 passport fee. Representatives need to present a written and signed authorization letter from you him/her.

    Option 2:

They may also follow the current “mail-in process” by “sending the completed and signed application and your prior passport to the US Embassy.” Applications also has to include a US dollar demand draft “made out to ‘US Embassy Manila’ in the amount of $110.”  Without the said US dollar demand draft, the application will be returned to the applicant and will not be processed. Demand drafts are only accepted if it’s from any of their three participating local banks: Bank of the Philippines (BPI), Security Banks, and Banco De Oro (BDO).

The Embassy’s no-walk-in policy will still apply except for those who have a valid emergency travel in less than two weeks. The person who will be experiencing this kind of case would have to walk-in to the American Citizen Services (ACS) section and have their plane ticket, flight itinerary, and medical records assessed if the person warrants an emergency passport.

For more information, you may visit the website of the US Embassy.
