Fil-Am is one of Forbes’ youngest billionaires
Nearly every millennial in the world is on Snapchat. Almost everyone knows the face of Snapchat, Evan Spiegel, as one of the youngest billionaires in the US. But did you know his partner is also on the list… and is half-Filipino?

Considered as the brains of Snapchat, Robert “Bobby” Murphy is the Filipino-American technical director of the popular app, whose value is estimated at US$1.8 billion, or just under P91 million (US$1 = P50.40). The widely popular app recently debuted at the New York Stock Exchange as Snap Inc., whose stocks are currently valued at US$ 24.48 per share, giving it a value of US$33.3 billion.
Snapchat’s brains, however, is impressively low key compared to his co-founder. Not much is known about the 28-year-old, apart from him being on Forbes’ 400 Richest list in 2016 (#374 to be exact) and having graduated from Stanford University with a degree in Mathematics and Computational Science.
Murphy’s mother, Rosie L. Go, migrated from the Philippines and married Cornelius Murphy, Jr. She is now a local government worker at the city of Berkley.
Murphy met Spiegel in 2010 at the Kappa Sigma frat house of Stanford University. In an interview with Forbes, he said both of them were not “cool” so “they tried to build things to be cool.”
