Filipino Restaurant Bad Saint named as Top 2 Best New Dining Place in US
A Washington-based Filipino restaurant named Bad Saint made it to America’s Best New Restaurants 2016 List by the Bon Appétit magazine.

Owned by Genevieve Cunanan and Nick Pimentel, together with their Filipino-American chef Tom Cunanan, the best of Filipino food has already made waves in the United States, thanks to Bad Saint. Andrew Knowlton, editor of the renowned American food magazine Bon Appétit, praised the restaurant dishes Ukoy, “a mix of freshwater shrimp fritter, sweet potato, and cilantro” and Adobong Dilaw, which he described as a “tangy stew of chicken, turmeric, and burnt coconut.”
Knowlton also described the restaurant’s food as “personal, but it’s so much more than just dishes they ate as kids. Bad Saint is the kind of place I spend all year searching for.”
The said restaurant only accepts walk-ins and changes their menu frequently. Since their inclusion in the list of nominees, Bad Saint has already gained a reputation and has already acquired a strong following among locals and tourists who go to Columbia Heights, where it is located.
The other restaurants included in the list are Staplehouse, Lord Stanley, Morcilla, Baroo, South Philly Barbacoa, Oberlin, Wildair, Buxton Hall, and N7.
