There’s only a few hours left before the Rio Olympics 2016 conduct its much-awaited opening ceremony and Rio is now busy submitting to its mission of putting its best face on ahead of Friday’s event at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

Many is confused as the date of the opening ceremony is quite conflicted with time – basically, it will be on August 5, but really it’s on August 6. Telegraph.co.uk website made it all clear: “It’s kicking off at a civilised 20.00 local time, which means midnight on Friday night / Saturday morning if you’re following it from the British Isles. We’d guess it’ll take about four hours in total.” You can watch the event at a live online streaming by Telegraph Sport website: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/. It’s also on big BBC: BBC One, if you’re after a second screen. Coverage starts at 23.40 and runs until 04.00.

While many was thrilled even more after the release of 2016 Rio Olympics anthem entitled “Rise” by American Singer-Songwriter Katy Perry, people are expecting way much more with the opening ceremony. Three-thousand people have already seen a dress rehearsal ahead of Friday’s showpiece event, getting quick peeks through social media of details about what the ceremony will showcase. But here’s one thing you can expect that is for sure:

“The Rio 2016 games will provide the best possible environment for peak performances. Athletes will enjoy world-class facilities, including a superb village, all located in one of the world’s most beautiful cities, in a compact layout for maximum convenience.” – The International Olympic Committee

Also, the Philippines just got its newest addition to the country’s 2016 Rio Olympics representatives – 23 year old Filipino-Japanese judoka Kodo Nakano made it as the lucky 13th athlete of Team Philippines in the 2016. He will be competing in the Men’s 81kg division. He will be flying to Rio as the only judoka and will be 1 of only 2 martial arts athletes; the other one is Kristine Alora of taekwondo.
