In the Philippines, it has been a tradition for many companies to give back to the community before the year ends. They organize fund-raising events and outreach programs to spread the spirit of giving. Here’s a list of establishments that accept donations and pre-loved clothes, books, and toys:

Jollibee – Maaga ang Pasko
Since 1994, the number one local fastfood chain in the country has collected over 2 million toys and books through this nationwide donation drive. In partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Education, Jollibee Maaga ang Pasko distributes donated items to kid beneficiaries nationwide. Bring your books and toys to any Jollibee branch and help put a smile to a child’s face.

National Bookstore and Powerbooks – Project Aklat 2015: A Christmas Book Drive
Do you want to share the joy of reading but can’t let go of your collection? No problem. Purchase pre-selected books at any National Bookstore and Powerbooks outlet and help the National Book Store Foundation build more libraries. The project runs from November 28, 2015 to January 15, 2016.

SM Supermalls and Toy Kingdom
Make a child feel the warmth of the season with these cuddly bears! You can also give toys to the SM Store or Toy Kingdom and receive discount coupons. They will be selling bears and accepting donations until Dec. 31, 2015.

Uniqlo – Recycle
Since 2007, UNIQLO, along with its global partner United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees (UNHCR), has delivered clothing items to refugees, evacuees, victims of disaster, expectant and nursing mothers, and others in need around the world. Bring your used Uniqlo items to any Uniqlo shop. They have set up baskets near the cash registers, ready to receive your gift of clothes.

Caritas Manila – Segunda Mana
Segunda Mana means “secondhand.” It is a fund-raising project that collects items you don’t need—used or unused—which have value and may be sold. It was launched on October 27, 2007 by Caritas Manila. Proceeds from the sale of donated items will fund Caritas Manila’s programs for the poor. Check if your parish church has a box such as shown above. You may simply drop your donations.
